CHRISTIAN DOUCETTE, Nonprofit Development Director
Arthur is an agent of real change. His approach to goals is the perfect mix of optimism (that change is possible) and reality (there are always limitations). No matter the challenge, Arthur creates a positive environment in which everyone does their best work. A rare gem, both personally and professionally

Speaker's Bureau Information

Speaker Bio
Mr. Padilla began his community impact work in Southern Arizona, working for a multi-stakeholder collaborative designed to reduce HIV infection throughout Pima County. Mr. Padilla has implemented several similar initiatives to address the community oppression of LGBTQ youth in Washington, DC; crystal methamphetamine addiction in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood; and a community therapy initiative in Northern New Mexico for first-time insured mental health clients. Mr. Padilla has been working as a consultant since 2011. He has done extensive work in anti-racist and anti-oppression programming across the United States. In Alaska, where distance learning has been a priority for many years, he participated in developing collective impact initiatives for front-line care workers. He was also the lead evaluator for a Department of Education project in Alaska designed to learn about cultural differences using an immersion/experiential program. This collective impact project included the Native Corporations from across Alaska, all the school districts in the state, teachers in middle school and high school, and students from every Alaska community. Lastly, he just completed a three-year initiative with the YWCA USA office as lead evaluator for a trauma-informed leadership project for high school girls of color. Again, this well-funded national initiative included YWCAaffiliates, high schools, small businesses, educators, parents, and most especially, youth. The program will launch nationally in 2021.
Topic 1
Creating New Systems using a DEIA Lens
Topic 1 Description
The idea of deconstructing and reconstructing systems to remove institutional oppression. Through storytelling and examples, I help people understand the practical implications of this idea. From recruiting and hiring staff to recruiting and training board members and everything in between.
Topic 2
Trauma-Informed Approaches-What Does this Mean
Topic 2 Description
The conversations about Trauma-Informed Approaches are complicated and many people struggle to understand what this means in practice. Interestingly enough, the conversations related to DEIA are relevant and correlate well to our growing understanding of what it means to interface with people who have been traumatized.
Topic 3
The Implications of Fostering Resiliency
Topic 3 Description
For many years I worked in Alaska supporting cultural exchanges between rural and urban youth. The program was astounding and provided an excellent opportunity to see what happens when youth are taught resilience strategies.
