Company Profile

Company Overview
My work focuses on working across sectors of education, mental health, and health to implement successful strategies to support the social, emotional, and behavioral health needs of the populations they serve. My expertise includes: action oriented strategic planning, leadership development, implementation support, quality improvement coaching, professional development, and content development.

With over 25 years of experience in building capacity of schools, school districts and state-level systems in the areas of school mental health, school health, and social and emotional learning, I have a deep understanding of what it takes to create safe, supportive, and inclusive environments in which people can thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Extensive knowledge of SEL, school mental health, and trauma-informed practices – combined with skills in developing and leveraging internal leaders, building teams, aligning frameworks, and designing and facilitating effective professional learning – have led to positive change for young people, educators, health and mental health providers, and administrators.

We were lucky to have Laura support us in the first three years of becoming a trauma-informed organization. Laura is extremely efficient, well-organized and has great depth of knowledge. She was creative in finding ways to engage diverse staff at all levels of the organization. She is particularly skilled in action planning and understands the steps needed to move a project from start to finish! Topic 1
Using Trauma-Informed Practices to Create a Positive Workplace Culture
Topic 1 Description
Trauma Informed practices have great benefits in fostering a workplace in which staff feel supported, care about one another, and can be successful in their jobs.

Trauma-informed practices are primarily about cultivating the skills and mindsets of adults necessary to provide safe spaces and environments. Fundamental to these practices is the need for adults to recognize the impact of their own and others’ experience with trauma and adversity while taking action to make others feel supported.

My prevention on this topic will include hands-on activities to build participant skills such as reflective listening and empathy, enhancing relationships with colleagues, identifying signs of staff burnout, and building personal resilience.
